Featured Artists at The Haymarket Hotel

Scotland inspires countless artists and its not hard to see why, with its bright harbour boats, lush green glens and cheeky hairy coos.  When it came to choosing artwork to adorn the walls of our Victorian buildings here at The Haymarket Hotel we were spoilt for choice.

You will notice an array of colourful works from varying artists, all with very different takes on our beautiful country.  Below are just a sample of artists you can find within the foyers, bedrooms and hallways here during your stay.

'Beached Boats' Loch Indaal, Islay.
By John Lowrie Morrison

This vivid work by John Lowrie Morrison (Jolomo) is characteristic of his work, with its strong colours and contrasts, especially his signature luminescent blue. He is one of Scotland's most loved artists and has been painting the west coast of Scotland since the sixties.

'Highland Cow'
By Matylda Konecka

This whimsical work is by Polish artist Matylda Konecka from Wroclaw.  Using elements from cities and the most beautiful landscapes of Scotland, she creates her own stories within them.  "Scotland seems to me to be a place so vivid, colourful and magical that I couldn't help but show it in my art."

'Magical Glenfinnan'
By Rob Hain

Our favourite and undoubtedly the most featured artist at The Haymarket Hotel, with works across all six buildings, Rob's colourful depictions will be sure to catch your eye.  Injecting his lively colour scheme onto Edinburgh architecture, Rob gives a unique view of our lovely city and beyond.  'Magical Glenfinnian' features the Glenfinnan viaduct, made famous in Harry Potter films, but through the lens of a dreamscape while still being true to the architectural integrity of the structure.

With so much natural and architectural beauty, Scotland really is a feast for the senses.  Please speak with reception if you would like to enquire about purchasing any of the featured works within The Haymarket Hotel, we would be more than happy to help, and as always, enjoy your stay.
