Murrayfield Stadium, Scotland’s Home of Rugby

Scotland rugby fans can look forward to some fantastic games as the Famous Grouse Nations Series returns this autumn with four exciting Test matches at Scottish Gas Murrayfield.

The stadium's history stretches back to the 21st of April 1925, when Scotland celebrated the opening of a new stadium by winning a Grand Slam with a victory over the 'Auld Enemy' England. Outside of Rugby Union, Scottish Gas Murrayfield has also welcomed many famous musicians, groups and, in 1982, the Pope.

Scotland’s largest stadium seats 60 144 and the undersoil heating system which the groundsmen operate control the pitch temperature ensuring that no games or events are lost to harsh Scottish winter weather.

The stadium is owned by the Scottish Rugby Union who has its headquarters based at the stadium and is the national stadium of the Scotland national rugby union team.

Just a short 15 minute walk or one tram stop away from The Haymarket Hotel we’re conveniently located to Murrayfield.  Stop into Logans Bar for a pre-game pint.   It’s always exciting atmosphere on game days and walking to Murrayfield you’ll pass food vendors, pop-up outdoor bars and street merchants selling team colours, hats and scarves which we would recommend taking with you to the game as Murrayfield’s hive design does have a roof for spectators but the wind does whip through the stadium.

Obviously we wish our rugby boys a happy outcome but no matter who you support, enjoy your stay!
