Edinburgh Taxi Trade Outing

This annual charity event takes place on the second Tuesday in June and is always spectacularly cheerful. Edinburgh taxi drivers volunteer their time and vehicles for the day to drive children with disabilities to the seaside in style. Drivers go all out, creatively decorating their taxis and themselves and compete to be awarded Best Dressed Taxi.

It is fantastic to see so many people come out and support the procession and wave the children on. If you plan to watch the lively convoy, and we highly reccommend you do - be warned! The children are armed with water guns, supersoakers and waterbombs, and take great joy in soaking the crowds, including supporting police officers.

The parade will be setting off from Murryfield at 10am, making its way past Haymarket Hotel, down the Royal Mile, along London Road and through Portobello to Musselburgh around 11.30am.

From there the convoy will take the coast road all the way to Dirleton, where they enjoy a beach picnic, as they have done since 1947.
